Honda Canada Inc. announced today that the new Honda "Element", which was unveiled as a "pre-production" concept vehicle at the 2002 New York International Auto Show today, will be introduced to the Canadian market early 2003. The Honda Element originally debuted as a concept model, named "Model X", in January 2001 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Featuring a straightforward exterior design and functional interior, it has gained popularity among the young, active public and, as a result, Element earned a fast track to production.

Honda has identified in the automotive marketplace a completely new generation of buyer who have increasingly unique requirements from their vehicle. The Honda Element is designed to meet the young, diversified lifestyle of the urban consumer who actively participates in snowboarding, mountain biking, water skiing and other sports. Today, these buyers are trying to adapt to cars, trucks and SUVs, but Element will fulfill their diversified needs with one vehicle.

Element is designed to serve as "a base camp", bringing new levels of functionality to the marketplace. The flexible interior hauls four adults and their gear comfortably on road trips; or the rear seats fold away to create a large and open interior to carry just about any weekend equipment. The rugged interior is also designed to be easy to clean. Additional features include a high-power AM/FM radio with CD player and auxiliary input jacks for an MP3 player or other electronic devices.
