Honda's venerable sporting legend is about to sprout another pair of doors. Standing alongside its sports-coupe brother, the Civic Si Sedan has been announced for sale as a 2008 model in Canada.
Honda says the sedan model will be mechanically identical to the coupe, while showcasing the performance potential of the global compact platform to create the best handling and performing Civic yet.
Power is provided by Honda's K20 engine- a high-revving 2.0 litre unit with 197 horsepower that sends power solely to a quick-shifting six-speed manual gearbox. An automatic transmission is not available on Si designated models. Between the front wheels is a special Helical-style limited slip differential which improves power delivery on corner-exit and enhances mid-corner throttle response.
In all, it's just like its little brother, but with more room to bring the family along for the ride.
Built exclusively in Alliston, Ontario, the Si sedan goes on sale this October with a sticker price under $27,000.
