Honda’s Clarity EV and Plug-in Hybrid also on display

After its highly anticipated global launch in Geneva, the new 2017 Honda Civic Type R made a surprise appearance at AutoCon 2017 in Los Angeles toward the end of March. Now it’s on display in New York, its last stop before it makes its debut at dealerships between now and this summer.

Equipped with a 2.0L, 306-hp turbo engine, the Type R is the most powerful and quickest Honda ever produced for North America.

Honda is also using the occasion of the New York Auto Show to present the global premiere of its new Honda Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid models, which join the Clarity Fuel Cell already introduced.

It’s actually a first in the industry that one single model comes in these three different variants (the Hyundai IONIQ is offered as a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and an all-electric). Each of the three will feature certain design elements that distinguish it from the other Claritys, but all offer a spacious, 5-passenger cabin and some luxury amenities, including the whole line of Honda Sensing safety elements.

On the road, motorists can expect a smooth and quiet ride, while the instant torque of the electric motor will help ensure responsive acceleration and the overall driving pleasure that is part of the Honda DNA.

It’s already been announced that the Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid will have an all-electric range of around 65 km, and that it will be available commercially in Canada at the end of 2017. Check back on Auto123.com for more details.
