Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has brought a track-focused evolution of its hot hatch to the 2026 SEMA Show in Las Vegas: the Honda Civic Type R HRC Concept. Making its North American debut after an initial reveal at the Tokyo Auto Salon, the prototype previews a dedicated lineup of factory-backed HRC Performance Parts heading to the Canadian and U.S. markets.

Even better, Honda says the concept itself is in development for the U.S. and Canada.

Track-tested mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades
The concept retains the standard Civic Type R’s turbocharged 2.0L K20C1 inline-4 engine, but output is boosted to an estimated 335 hp, or 20 more than the production model's 315 hp. The power increase stems from recalibrated engine management software, a high-flow intake and a performance exhaust system developed jointly by Akrapovič and HRC.

Thermal management is enhanced via a high-performance HRC radiator, a larger front intercooler, and dual air guides.

Aerodynamic revisions are designed to increase high-speed downforce and airflow efficiency. The front fascia gains a larger air intake, an extended splitter and additional air ducts.

At the rear, a higher-mounted GT-style wing with enlarged endplates works in tandem with a enlarged rear diffuser. The car also has a wider-track architecture and modified side sills, and it loses 23 kg (50 lb) of weight through carbon-fibre components and lightweight sport bucket seats.

Chassis enhancements and HRC Performance Parts lineup
Chassis modifications focus on unsprung mass reduction and track handling. The concept rides on forged aluminium wheels co-developed with 2elle Engineering that are 0.5 inches wider than stock while reducing unsprung weight by 2.5 kg (5.5 lb) per corner.

Braking capacity is upgraded via a six-piston Brembo big-brake kit, while a short-throw shifter improves gear engagement. Height-adjustable HRC coilovers with camber plates are also under development.

Beyond the vehicle showcase, Honda confirmed that HRC Performance Parts will launch as a commercial line for on-road and off-road applications. The components will be offered on the Civic Type R, Acura Integra Type S and Passport TrailSport, with initial catalog items scheduled to become available through dealers and the online Honda DreamShop starting in March 2027.
