The Honda CR-V will not only get fresh new looks for 2012, but also a new, stronger heart.
Reports indicate that a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 201 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque will wind up under the hood of the compact SUV.
The current 2.4L mill won't get the boot, however. It will again come standard on base models. Expect both power and weight to be down (175 hp, 170 lb-ft), which should translate into the same overall performance.
While competitors all use 6-speed automatic transmissions, the 2012 Honda CR-V will retain the old 5-speed unit. Nevertheless, fuel economy will likely be up.
