brand's Compass concept, will extend Jeep's reach from 4x4 enthusiasts to those who appreciate the brand's image but may not want the rough and ready ride and handling that go with its entry-level TJ (Wrangler in the U.S.).

That TJ (Wrangler) will be the last model on the Jeep list to get upgraded, now that a new Grand Cherokee and renewed Liberty have just debuted for the 2005 model year. Still, revisions to this classic SUV come slowly and therefore nothing is expected to happen during 2005.

An even more functional vehicle, the recently updated Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country are expected to go through a major cycle change soon as well, with the upgrades made to the current 2005 model year lineup more internal than external, the big news being the inclusion of the best-in-class Stow 'n Go flat-folding seating system. If you combine total sales of GM's four mid-vans, however, the world's largest automaker is not far behind, and its new vans may have what is finally needed for GM to surpass Chrysler Group's sales lead this year. Hyundai will also enter the market segment when Kia upgrades its Sedona next year, another powerhouse that is expected to eat away at the dominant domestics, while Toyota has pledged to up its market share in coming years, its van being held back due to restrictions on importation.
