The Tundra going to number one in Canada would definitely require some more creative thought processes, but given time, and Wearing made no mention of a due date, anything is possible.

The 19-foot long, full-size V8-hybrid FTX concept truck, making its Canadian debut after appearing at the 2003 Detroit auto show, could be the answer Toyota is requiring to make the bold move forward. The design is overly aggressive, making the tough, comparatively little Tacoma appear as the much nicer younger brother, similar to a design theme that helped Dodge Ram move from also-ran to major player in the full-size pickup arena.

"Toyota has a worldwide reputation as a manufacturer of tough, rugged trucks," said Wearing. "Building on that reputation, FTX was designed to make a bold statement about Toyota's future full-size pick-up truck plans."
If you're still not a believer in Toyota truck capability, Toyota wants to convert you and to do so offers those attending the Toronto show a punishing off-road test track to test your mettle, as well as the truck's metal, so to speak. Tacoma and 4Runner models will be on hand to take through the maze of dirt and mud, situated just outside the Convention Centre.
"Tacoma is really just the start of our trucks initiatives," stated Wearing, "and will continue to spearhead our efforts in this market. Going forward, what you'll see is a new, vibrant clarity expressed in Toyota's truck designs, with a bold and powerful exterior styling, yet simple and elegant interiors."
