At the end of Bump Day, Mexican driver Mario Dominguez was, to say the least, hugely disappointed after failing to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 coming up next weekend.

Phil Giebler's crash at the Brickyard.

The Pacific Coast Motorsports driver crashed at turn one before completing his four-lap run and was unable to regain any momentum after that.

"I feel terrible," said Dominguez, "for me, my sponsors and my team. The only thing that makes me feel good is that we tried until the end. We tried as hard as we could."

The ex-Champ Car competitor had worked very hard in recent weeks to try to bring a sponsor into investing in his Indy adventure along with PCM. Dominguez was finally able to convince the city of Mexico to come aboard and financially support the team.

"We gave it our best effort, we just trimmed the car out, it didn't take that downforce, and I just lost it."

Meanwhile, American racer Phil Giebler also crashed hard into the wall when trying to qualify his car. Fortunately, he was shaken but uninjured (photo).
