Last year's Indianapolis 500 polesitter Alex Tagliani completed his first test runs aboard a Dallara DW12 at Homestead in Florida, testing the new Lotus-Judd engine.

Tagliani did not drive his own car though; the exercise being one of running primarily for engine manufacturer Lotus and get accustomed to the new engine as well as the new car.

Lotus has already completed four test sessions in Florida for two weeks and officials expressed satisfaction with progress.

Simona de Silvestro, who drives for the HVM team, has covered nearly 1400 km in two days without experiencing major trouble.

"It's a good start, said Tagliani but we'll have to push the engine more to get to the bottom."

"We still have work to do,'' said the Canadian driver. ''All efforts are currently concentrated in the development of the engine, which affects directly the development of our car. "

Tagliani, he will have to wait until mid-February to test his own Bryan Herta Autosport car as private testing sessions are planned in Sonoma (California), Barber Park (Alabama) and Sebring (Florida).

Because of a conflict with both the IndyCar and NASCAR Nationwide schedules, Tagliani won't be able to take part in this year NAPA 200 in Montreal as the Chinese IndyCar race is being scheduled during the same weekend.
