In what will be her last appearance as a regular driver in the IZOD IndyCar series, Danica Patrick set the fastest time in the first practice session for this weekend's season finale at Las Vegas.
Newman Haas Racing’s Oriol Servia was slower by a mere 0.077s to secure second spot while Patrick’s teammates Hunter-Reay and Mike Conway finished respectively 3rd and 5th while Ganassi’s Scott Dixon was 4th
Both series’ leaders Dario Franchitti (Ganassi) and Will Power (Penske) were only ninth and 14th.
As for the Canadian drivers, they had their shares of problems that they hoped they can resolved with the best of them James Hinchcliffe (NHR) in 15th place, Paul Tracy (Dragon Racing) 21st and a distant Alex Tagliani who is driving a Dallara set for road courses in 23rd.
