Ganassi’s Dario Franchitti, who started second on the grid, won the first of the two races at the IndyCar Twin 275s at Texas while Penske’s Will Power took the first oval victory of his career in the second event.

Right at the start, Franchitti took over from pole sitter Alex Tagliani (Sam Schmidt Motorsports) and easily maintained his position until rookies Wade Cunningham (Sam Schmidt) and Charlie Kimball (Ganassi) came together at Turn 3 with 21 laps remaining, bringing about the race's only caution period.

At the restart, Franchitti and his team-mate Scott Dixon were able to stay at the front but with Power and Tagliani closely behind as they distanced themselves from the rest of the field and fought between themselves over the final three laps.

They maintained their positions till the end but were only separated by a narrow margin of just 0.2 seconds. Takuma Sato (KV Racing Technology) was the last man in the top 5.

Canadians Paul Tracy (Dragon Racing) and James Hichcliffe (Newman Haas Racing) finished respectively 12th and 20th.

In the second race, the starting grid was the result of a draw and KV’s Tony Kanaan pulled the number one spot in the pre-race lottery. Rookie Wade Cunningham was second while Will Power ended up in third.

Tony Kanaan and Will Power battled it out thru the first 40 laps after which Power was able to take the lead while having too contempt then with a charging Scott Dixon over the closing laps of the event.
