Ganassi’s Dario Franchitti was the man to beat in Milwaukee as he claimed his first pole position of the 2011 IndyCar season.
Franchitti’s teammate Scott Dixon who looked as though he would be the fastest driver on the Wisconsin one-mile oval before the current champion went on track.
Helio Castroneves (Penske) did so well that he ended-up between the Ganassi duo to take second place in the qualifying session.

A very lonely week-end so far for double pole sitter Alex Tagliani who could only managed a distant 19th place for Sam Schmidt Motorsports; having to contempt with a back-up car set-up primarily for road courses.
Qualifying was interrupted by a violent crash by Simona de Silvestro who spun into the barriers at turn-4 then had a secondary impact with the inside wall.
The HVM driver was carefully removed from her car and then taken to hospital for checks and observation.
