Former Formula 1 competitor Giorgio Pantano will make a return to the IZOD IndyCar series with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing for the road races at Infineon Raceway and Baltimore, driving the No. 22 Dallara.
The 32-year old Italian driver will join Ana Beatriz in testing at Infineon Raceway on August 18, and will fill in for the injured Justin Wilson. Decisions on a driver for the remaining races have not been made, team officials said.
Pantano returns to IndyCar after competing in the Auto GP Series last year as well as Superleague Formula in 2009. He won the GP2 title in 2008, and has competed in F3000 and Formula 1 with Jordan.
He also made two road course starts for Chip Ganassi Racing in 2005.
