Ryan Briscoe took over the top of the sheet from teammate Will Power by being the fastest driver in the second practice session of the IndyCar's Friday practice in Long Beach.
The Australian edged Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay in the last moment of the session. Hunter-Reay had been in front but late quick laps from Briscoe and Power saw the Penske duo hit the front.
Scott Dixon (Ganassi) took fourth while series’ champion Dario Franchitti was outside the top-10 in both sessions Friday.
Alex Tagliani was the fastest Canadian on track and took Sam Schmidt Motorsports to an excellent fifth position. James Hinchcliffe finished still an excellent 13th even though he had spun during the session.
Paul Tracy put his Dragon Racing car into the Turn 5 wall on only his third lap of the session.
