Scott Dixon got himself yet another victory at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, making it a third consecutive one at the track… on odd-numbered years (he has won back in 2007 and 2009)!

Dixon overtook his Target Chip Ganassi teammate Dario Franchitti on Lap 61 of the 200 miles race to take his first victory of the season. The two times’ series champion also led the most laps of this 85-lap race.

Dario Franchitti, who admitted his teammate was “in a different zip code today”, settled for a second position ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay, former Formula 1 driver Takuma Sato and Tony Kanaan who went from 16th on the grid to completing the race’s top-5.

Championship challenger Will Power finished in 14th position after behind stuck at the wrong place at the wrong time all race long. His strategy was compromised by not only one but two yellow flags.

Canadian driver Alex Tagliani finished the week-end with a sixth place ahead of Marco Andretti, Oriol Servia, Sebastien Bourdais and Vitor Meira who completed the top-10. Simona de Silvestro finished in 12th position with a 21st position only for female counterpart Danica Patrick.

Franchitti still lead the championship by 62 points ahead of Power and Dixon who is now only 31 points short of the Penske driver. There are six races left to the 2011 season, four of which are new to the series’ calendar. Next race is in New Hampshire on August 14.
