Because both drivers had to get their engine changed due to mechanical issues, James Hinchcliffe (Andretti Autosport) and Sebastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing) will each be imposed 10-grid position penalties for the upcoming Grand Prix of Long Beach.

For Hinchcliffe, the engine troubles on his Chevrolet engine came about during the latest test held at the Infineon Raceway last Monday while Bourdais’ Lotus powerplant had to be change following the Grand Prix of Alabama.

Hinchcliffe had so far scored top-10 finishes in both races this season while Bourdais provided Lotus with its initial top-10 finish (ninth) in the IndyCar event that was held on the Barber Motorsports Park.

The latest penalties are the fourth and fifth such sanctions handed out this season. The first was given to the No. 77 Schmidt-Hamilton driver Simon Pagenaud following the initial practice session in St Petersburg.

At Barber Motorsports Park, the Lotus engine in the No. 98 Team Barracuda-BHA car driven by Canadian Alex Tagliani was changed before the initial practice session while the one on Oriol Servia’s DW12 (Dreyer & Reinbold) was swapped out after practice.
