Penske Racing driver Will Power has been fined a hefty US$30,000 and put on probation for the rest of the season following his harsh comments following the IndyCar New Hampshire event finish.
The Australian ended up in a wall after trying to avoid Danica Patrick, who had lost control of her car, when the race was restarted in wet conditions eight laps from the end.
After remonstrating with officials from inside the car, he later branded their actions as "disgraceful" during a TV interview and said that resuming the event in such conditions had put drivers in serious danger.
Power's punishment comes after he was found to have 'displayed unsportsmanlike conduct and used improper and profane gestures towards race control'.
