Team Penske’s ace driver Will Power continued on with what he has been doing since the beginning of the 2011 IndyCar season by taking his fourth pole position but this time in Sao Paulo in Brazil.
After leading his first two sections of qualifying he then blasted to the top spot in the 'fast six' pole shoot-out.
Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) wound up second, Scott Dixon (Ganassi) was third, team-mate Ryan Briscoe (Penske) fourth while Graham Rahal (Ganassi) completed the top 5 qualifiers.
Despite being a large group, none of the Brazilian made it into the top six, with Helio Castroneves (Penske) being the best of them all with seventh.
It was one disappointing day for KV Racing’s Tony Kanaan who could only managed a distant 15th place on the starting grid. Another driver who had also a bad break was HVM’s Simona de Silvestro who, after finishing second in the final practice, was not able to do the Fast Six Shootout.
