Ripping a page out of the German luxury brands’ textbooks, Infiniti is launching a high-performance vehicle collection called IPL, which stands for—you guessed it—Infiniti Performance Line.

The first car in this sub-group will be the G Coupe, and it will make its Canadian debut at the Montreal Auto Show in January.

The IPL G Coupe will feature rear-wheel drive, redesigned front and rear bumper and fascia designs, side sills, a rear spoiler and round chrome exhaust tips. Inside, the car will host red-stitched leather upholstery and aluminum trimmings.

Under the hood, the 3.7-litre V6 gets a power boost, up to 348 ponies and 276 pound-feet of torque. Both the 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions will be available. IPL claims the engine is not only more powerful but will produce a more sporty exhaust sound. The suspension is also retuned with increased spring rates and revised shocks, while the car’s steering and brakes are also adjusted for IPL duty.

The Canadian launch date for the IPL G Coupe is March 2011.

The Montreal Auto Show will be held at the Palais des Congrès from January 14th to the 23rd. You can purchase tickets online at www.montrealautoshow.com.
