The second-generation Infiniti FX performance luxury crossover is scheduled to go on sale in the United States and Canada in June 2008. The new model, with its fusion of sports car performance and SUV capability, will be offered in three models, including the 5.0L V8-powered FX50.

The second-generation FX is designed to offer exceptional levels of power, refinement, safety and driving exhilaration. Along with a dramatic, aerodynamic body structure and sporty FM (Front Midship) platform, the new FX features an extensive list of available equipment and advanced technology, including a new 390-horsepower, 5.0-liter, 32-valve, DOHC V8, a 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. A V6 engine will join the lineup a bit later.

Infiniti FX50 buyers will benefit from Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA), which provides forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, as well as a Lane Departure Warning/Prevention system helping distracted drivers keep the vehicle in its travel lane. Other safety features include Intelligent Cruise Control, which maintains a pre-set distance with the vehicle ahead at speeds between 0-145 kph. The FX50 also comes with 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
