In order to ensure that the Sprinter meets customer needs, it is available in three different wheelbases - short: 2997 mm (118 inches), intermediate: 3556 mm (140 inches) and long: 4013 mm (158 inches), in two different configurations - cargo van and passenger van, all of which can be delivered with two different roof heights.
The Sprinter is powered by a high-performance Mercedes-Benz 2.7 litre diesel engine with 154 hp and 243 pound-feet of torque. The automatic five-speed transmission system from Mercedes-Benz provides optimum power transmission, increases driver comfort and keeps the engine in a continually low-consumption range.
Both cargo and passenger vans are manufactured in the state-of-the-art Sprinter plant in Dusseldorf, Germany. Cargo vans are delivered in semi-assembled state to a Freightliner plant in Gaffney, South Carolina and the passenger vans are delivered fully assembled. The Gaffney plant has expanded by about 75,000 square feet to accommodate the Sprinter.
