Canadian race car driver Alexandre Tagliani drive a strong race in the opening round of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar series, battling with the leaders in Brazil until a rival punted him out of the race.

In round 2 held last weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida Tagliani and the newly former FAZZT Race Team finished the race in 6th place after having run in 5th, scoring points.

Tagliani and the team members were satisfied with the result.

“I am very happy for the boys today. The Bowers and Wilkins #77 car was not the fastest car on the track today but I think having done 51 laps on a set of tires at the end was a good strategy and the guys just did a fantastic job in the pits,” said Tagliani.

“ We are pretty proud to finish our first race and to finish sixth and score points as that is pretty important. The track was good today. We have to thank the promoter that they were able to keep the track open today and give us a chance to race and put on a good show for the fans.”

“Today was a good result for the whole team,” said Rob Edwards, General Manager of the FAZZT Race team.

“I think we’ve shown in the first two races that we are not here to just fill in the numbers. I have to give full credit to Firestone Tires today. Everyone knows they make the best tires in the world and to be able to run 51 laps on the black set at the end is absolutely phenomenal. Alex did a great job, he wasn’t too sure on the strategy plan on that last stop to start with but he got with the program pretty quickly. I am so happy for Alex, Jim and Andre. They have given us a lot of tools and put a lot of faith in us and it is nice to get one on the board.”
