Canadian Alex Tagliani who took the start of the Indianapolis 500 in 5th place, was pretty sure that he could fight his way onto the podium. However, things did not go exactly as planned but a top 10 finish remains a very good result for FAZZT Racing team’s first experience at Indy.

Right through the first pit stop, the Canadian was running among the leading four drivers. But afterwards, slow traffic became a factor and Tagliani lost a great number of positions.

“The team has been extraordinary as the car was really fast at the start,” declared Tagliani.

“Unfortunately after our first stop, I was caught up behind Sebastien Saavedra, who was a lap down who did not give me any room to pass. Right there I lost 10 spots. »

His Dallara being set-up with a lot of downforce, Tagliani had problems passing people when fighting his way back to the front. He later avoided an accident and tricky situations to finish 10th.

« I’m so proud of the work that was done by the whole FAZZT Racing team and we are going to Texas real happy with what we’ve accomplished here, » Tag said.

No such luck for his teammate however, Bruno Junqueira, who saw his race end prematurely when he lost back end of his car and hit the wall after only 7 laps.

All the IndyCar teams will have to work hard in the coming hours as they have only four days before the next race which will be run this coming Saturday at the Texas Motor Speedway.
