With the departure of McDonald as primary sponsor of the Newman-Haas-Lanigan Racing car driven by Graham Rahal, the young American star driver finds himself without a ride.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Graham Rahal still doesn't have a contract for the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series with Newman/Haas/Lanigan.

The well-informed newspaper says that Rahal is the top choice of Gil de Ferran, who still is a long way off from joining the IndyCar Series this year; the team having to shut down due to lack of sponsorship.

The report added that Newman-Haas-Lanigan could enter two cars or even three Indy cars this year, depending on what happens with Rahal, as Alex Lloyd and Hideki Mutoh are also expected to finalize deals with the team. But in other reports published today, it appears that the deal Lloyd had fell thru.

Indy Lights racer Ana Beatriz, who is hoping to run selected IndyCar races this year, also attended the series' recent winter meetings in Indianapolis with fellow countryman de Ferran and partner Robert Clarke.
