A new Technical Review Committee has been formed by the Indy Racing League following a controversy that involves Team Penske, which run a damper set-up (some sort of ride-height control) believed to be illegal by other teams.

Although Roger Penske’s team had been given permission to run the device on road courses, Chip Ganassi Racing led a group of rival teams that complained about the illegality of the system.

"We were clearly misled and maybe lied to," said Ganassi Racing’s Managing Director Mike Hull.

"We were told in August 2008 that ride control could not be used and it was found it would be taken off."

Penske Racing has not made any statement regarding the subject but the IRL governing body has now clarified that all proposals put forward by teams will be made available to their rivals.
