According to the Queensland's sports minister, Judy Spence, the Surfers Paradise motorsport event is set to be included in the IRL schedule until 2013.
Although a date has not been set yet, the Australian authorities have signed a memorandum of understanding with the IRL.
The local government is determined to secure the future of the race and it is believed that the deal can be finalised during this year's non-championship event in the last weekend of October.
