Why not go one step further?
Designers at GM's Advanced Design Studio in West Hollywood asked themselves one question: if the average vehicle in L.A. spends 95 percent of its existence outside, why should it not give back what it took from our Mother Earth? That's quite an ambitious proposition!
The result is a vehicle whose body "breathes" and transforms carbon
dioxide into oxygen. Its name is HO2. The vehicle's drivetrain consists of four hydraulic engines (one in each wheel) powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The hydrogen tank is mounted in the center of the vehicle to increase stability.
Maybe some day we'll see these kinds of vehicles on all the roads across the world. Who knows? For the time being, car makers are seriously beginning to work on ways to improve their products and to make sure future generations will depend less on non-renewable fuels.
