The name to remember? I-PACE

If you enjoyed the inaugural Formula E race in Montreal this past summer, take note that as of next year, a new series will be launched in support of the all-electric racing circuit. The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will be the first racing championship to feature production-based electric cars.

The project is an initiative by Jaguar Racing, which joined the Formula E circuit in 2016. Participating cars will be based on the upcoming Jaguar I-PACE (scheduled for production in 2018) and developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division.

The 10 events making up the series will take place in the same large cities as the Formula E visits, like Hong Kong, Paris, Rome, New York and Sao Paolo, and on the same weekends. Up to 20 drivers will take part in each race, among them a different VIP driver in each city.

The British-based Jaguar Land Rover group has announced that by 2020 all new vehicle models it produces will be available in hybrid or all-electric versions.
