Even if you never attempt anything more adventurous in your four-by-four than going over one of those concrete curbs in a parking lot, there's no reason you can't look like you commute to work on the famous Rubicon Trail.

To that end, DaimlerChrysler Canada has started selling Rocky Mountain versions of its Jeep models for a limited time.

Mark Norman, president and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Canada, says there will be TJ, Liberty and Grand Cherokee versions of the Rocky Mountain series, each of them ''equipped with popular and unique options.''

Norman explains that Jeep customers ''have always embraced unique special package versions of their 4x4s. With the Jeep Rocky Mountain Editions, customers this spring have three unique vehicle options each representing even greater value and style.''

The series starts with the Jeep TJ Rocky Mountain Edition, which is based on the Sport S model and is said to offer ''a premium appearance package with $500 added value for the customer.''

Before we get to prices and more details, please remember that all of these prices are ''suggested,'' which means you can offer less if you want. On a similar note, the delivery charge of $1,050 is also negotiable. They like to make buyers think it's some kind of mandated charge they have to levy, but it's not.

Jeep TJ Rocky Mountain Edition starts at $27,815 with the 4.0-litre V-6 and a six-speed manual transmission, but you have to go to $28,935 for the same model with an automatic transmission.

Features on the TJ model include:
  • colour-keyed fender flares
  • 15-inch Ravine aluminum wheels in 30" x 9.5" Goodyear Wrangler OWL tires
  • Dana 44 axle
  • tow hooks
  • fog lamps
  • unique centre console accents
  • unique premium two-tone seat with embroidered Jeep logo
  • AM/FM/CD with seven speakers including subwoofers
  • unique Rocky Mountain Edition decal, and
  • Dark Slate Gray interior colour.

Exterior colours for the TJ model include Black, Bright Silver, Flame Red and (to reflect the American influence at Chrysler Canada) Patriot Blue.

The Jeep Liberty Rocky Mountain Edition is based on the Renegade X model, and Norman says offers features -- such as a sunroof and custom wheels -- that customers usually pay for in addition to the sticker.

The starting MSRP for the Jeep Liberty equipped with a 3.7-litre V-6 and six-speed manual is $30,475, or $31,595 for the same model with a four-speed automatic.

Rocky Mountain features of this model include:
  • body colour front and rear fascias
  • body colour fender flares
  • power sunroof
  • side roof rails
  • 16-inch Mechanica aluminum wheels with graphite accented pockets
  • cloth seats with embroidered Jeep logo
  • unique centre console accents
  • unique Rocky Mountain Edition badge, and
  • a spare tire cover.

Exterior colours for the Liberty model include Black, Bright Silver, Deep Beryl Green, Light Khaki and Inferno Red.
