Jeep Ups Features and Lowers Price of 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 5-speed automatic will be available in all Grand Cherokee trim levels, with fully-loaded versions getting Jeep's first

5.7-liter HEMI V8, rated at 330-hp and 375 lb-ft of torque and featuring MDS cylinder deactivation for fuel savings of up to 20 percent. Now with the additional power of a HEMI, the Grand Cherokee won't only offer best-in-class off-road capability, but best-in-class power, torque and towing capability.

Not only will Grand Cherokee buyers get more power right across the line, but the new model will also offer more content for fewer dollars. In 3.7-liter base Laredo trim the 2005 Grand Cherokee stickers at $38,990, a $1,035 savings compared to the 2004 GC that currently lists for $40,025. Less money for a better vehicle? Such is the kind of competitive nature that Chrysler Group has shown in recent months, with the introduction of the high value, low cost Chrysler 300 series, Dodge Magnum, Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible, Dodge Durango, and others.

4x4 systems for Grand Cherokee put it in a unique class in its segment. Jeep promises rugged off-road capability, even better than the outgoing Grand Cherokee, along with exemplary on-road characteristics due to its new independent front suspension system.
