Former NASCAR driver, Jeremy Mayfield, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine according to reports on Charlotte, NC, television station WBTV.
Police were conducting a search for stolen property at Mayfield’s home when they found the illegal drug.
Mayfield, a winner on the Sprint Cup circuit, was banned from NASCAR after failing a sanctioning-body-required random drug test in 2009.
The unemployed driver brought legal action to fight NASCAR’s banishment claiming that the drug tests mistakenly were positive for a banned drug. He claimed he was taking allergy medicine and Adderal for his Attention Deficit Disorder. He did not prevail in getting NASCAR’s ruling overturned.
