For the Masters drivers, it was the day for comebacks and surprises. Mario Martin, who started the pre-final race in 9th place, won the race and later, won the final race by leading from the start to the checkered flag. In the final race, we saw another great drive from Daniel Nadeau, who starting from the back of the grid, finished second. Sébastien Lafond finished third. An-other good performance came from Patrick Bramhill who also starting from the end of the pack finished 5th.

In the Rotax Espoir class, Patrick Manny had a perfect day, finishing every session first. David North finished the race in second place while Guy Roy finished third.

In Rotax Max Junior, many drivers, which are not regulars in the championship, were there, including Austrian driver Lucas Auer. Auer was comfortable on this track, finishing second in qualifying and the pre-final race and then, winning the final race, just ahead of Steven Szigeti. Guillaume Archambault finished third.

In Rotax Max, the story of the day was the race of our new Canadian champion Hugo Ouellette who won the race after he starting 16th! He crossed the finish line ahead of Zacharie Richard-Robichon, who lead the race during 10 laps but couldn’t stop Ouellette. Marc-André Lévesque, who lead the race for 4 laps, finished third. Jacques Villeneuve, who was entered in two categories, finished 13th.

In the last race, the Rotax DD2, the battle was between Jacques Villeneuve, former DD2 world champion, Pier-Luc Ouellette, former Canadian champion and world’s top 6, Christophe Boisclair and the winner of the Saturday night race, Curtis Fox.

Fox started the day the same way he finished the night before, with the best time in the qualifying session, followed by Boisclair, Ouellette, Tyler McEwan and Villeneuve. The pre-final race was on wet conditions and Boisclair lead form the green to the checkered flag, McEwan was second, followed by Ouellette and Villeneuve.

In the final race, Ouellette quickly took the lead followed by Boisclair and they finished 1-2. Behind them, the battle was tight between Villeneuve, Fox and McEwan. Fox climbed on the podium for the second day in a row and Villeneuve, who was pushing hard in the final lap trying for a spot on the podium, flipped over and this put an end to his race. He was not injured in the accident.

The next and last round of the Coupe de Montréal championship will take place on September 19th at the SRA Karting racetrack in St-Roch-de-l’Achigan.
