NEW YORK — The debut of the 2002 Kia Sedona at the 2001 Greater New York Auto Show brings exclusive, class-leading features to Kia's first entry in the minivan segment. Its debut marks the fourth new model introduced by Kia in the last two years, and is scheduled to appear in showrooms this summer.

"We expect the Sedona to be a success with families because it offers the value of style, quality and convenience at a lower cost than consumers expect," said B.M. Ahn, Kia's president and chief executive officer. "In the Sedona, we have brought the successful Kia formula of extra value to the minivan segment."

The front-wheel-drive Sedona continues Kia's tradition of well-built, high-value vehicles by including many features that equal or surpass the class leaders. The engine — a high-tech 3.5-liter dual overhead cam V6 — is the largest displacement engine available in an import minivan. It produces 195 horsepower, among the best in class. And the engine runs on regular unleaded gas compared to the premium fuel required by the Honda Odyssey. The engine is backed up by a sophisticated five-speed, electronically controlled automatic transmission. No other minivan offers a five-speed automatic.

The Sedona's dual sliding doors open to class-leading features on the inside. The driver will be very comfortable seated in the standard eight-way power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support. Front passengers will benefit from dual airbags and height-adjustable seat belts with pretensioners. Additional passengers will enjoy the reclining second-row
