Kia Canada today announced pricing and details for its new Soul and Niro electric variants. As it happens the announcement comes on the very same day that the federal government put forth its new iZEV (Zero-Emissions Vehicles) incentives program for electric vehicles. No surprise, both models come in below the cutoff price of $45,000 for eligibility for the rebate. That program, by the way, takes effect on May 1, 2019.

“We’re excited to be bringing not one but two real-world electric vehicles to the market and, with these new Federal incentives, there was never a better time for Canadians to take a good hard look at an EV.”
- Michael Kopke, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada
The 2019 Kia Niro EV, which is already available at dealerships in Canada, starts at $44,995 for the EX trim, and $53,995 for the SX Touring version.
The 2020 Kia Soul EV will only be available to consumers as of this summer, and it gets a starting price of $42,595 for the base Premium trim. The Limited trim will cost buyers at least $51,595.
Both models will benefit from the same 383-km range on a full charge thanks to a brand-new long-range motor.
