Following in the footsteps of the Iosis and Iosis X, the upcoming Ford Verve concept will hint at the design direction of the automakers future compact cars. When the Verve concept is shown at Frankfurt Motor Show, Ford plans to closely monitor public reaction, and for good reason. They build the Focus, which is currently the most loved small car in the UK.

With upcoming global platforms for Ford's small cars recently announced, the "kinetic" design language would have to be applied with a great deal of attention. The "kinetic" philosophy was introduced originally on concept cars, and has made production in several models like the new Mondeo and S-MAX. It's intended to convey a sense of motion and energy in the vehicle it's applied to.

Martin Smith, is the Executive Director of Design for Ford of Europe. He's excited about the new Verve, and explains "[the] bold, even radical, Ford Verve Concept demonstrates the potential of Ford's kinetic design philosophy to visualize a small car that is a chic and modern, and one that makes an individual statement for a sophisticated, fashion-aware generation."

Chic is right. Verve comes together with a deep purple paint applied beneath a tinted clear-coat finish. 18-inch wheels are fitted to the concept too, while a panoramic glass roof and lack of B-pillars suggests an open-air atmosphere contained within the body of an elegant coupe. Inside, Ford says the interior is styled to hint at the design of the latest mobile phones- a device missing from the pockets of few, if any, buyers interested in such a machine.

"A new generation of buyers raised with mobile electronic devices would feel right at home in this new automotive interior, one that exceeds the standards typical in the small-car segment," said Niko Vidakovic, Chief Interior Designer, Ford of Europe.
