Ford is also hyping the new engine’s fuel efficiency, saying it will achieve 19 mpg city and 30 mpg highway (US gallons), when it is hooked up to the 6-speed automatic transmission. The auto is even more efficient than the new six-speed manual, which is expected to achieve 18 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.

Some other refinements coming to the 2011 Mustang V6…
• Adoption of Electric Power Steering (EPAS);
• Increased aerodynamics via new front fascia, tire spats on rear wheels, modified underbelly shields, taller air dam, and rear deckled seal;
• Revised suspension, with modified damper tuning and spring rates, new lower control arm, stiffer stabilizer bar bushings;
• Standard limited-slip differential;
• Larger front and rear disc brake rotors;
• New instrument cluster with driver’s message centre;
• Integrated blind-spot mirrors in the side-view mirror;
• More soundproofing to filter out high-frequency noises;
• New Performance Package, with 3.31 rear axle and 19-inch wheels;
• Availability of MyKey (which encourages safer teen driving and seat belt use);
• Availability of the latest version of Ford SYNC.
