Horsepower vs. Dog power: Which is Faster?

We’ve already seen one-on-one races pitting a Formula E car against a cheetah or a Bugatti against a fighter jet. This one falls into the same category.

Earlier this year, Land Rover went to the Vesileppis Ski Tunnel in Finland to put its best-selling model, the Discovery Sport, to the test against a team of six Huskies that won national sled-dog races. No, it’s not a joke!

Equipped with a 286-hp four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine and intelligent all-wheel drive featuring the company’s acclaimed Terrain Response system, the Discovery Sport had to tackle various obstacles along the way, not only to make the challenge more even but also to demonstrate the vehicle’s skills in the snow and on icy surfaces. The dogs, for their part, first had to negotiate an incline after which they maintained a speed of about 35 km/h.
