Global warming, smog, pollution
You've probably noticed that I barely talked about environment in this article. In fact, I've talked about ecology. This being the science that studies the relation between living beings and their environment, and this study that shows the interdependence of all the forms of life on earth (human, animal, vegetal and mineral), we can only come to one conclusion: if we treat our planet and other life forms with respect and humility, we can survive. Or else, our planet will get rid of our species.
Whether it's by wars for its resources, or by global warming (with the toll of dry spells, floods, forest fires, hurricanes, and epidemics that will follow) or by the pollution that we generate, planet earth will have the last laugh if we continue to cover our eyes.
Now look outside. All you see, this consumption party and ever-increasing production is coming to an end. The hangover is coming. It will last another 10 years, 20 or 30 years maybe, but this lifestyle we're so dependent of has only so many years left.
Now, think of your children... and their children.
So, next time somebody tells you that a big truck is cool, stay calm and try to make them understand the consequences of their choices.
