What should matter to potential buyers in Canada is a new 2.5-litre V-6 gasoline engine with a ''stoichiometric'' direct injection system. No word on the power numbers for this engine yet, but it has been attached to a six-speed automatic with sequential paddle-shift control, which suggests sportiness of some kind.
Whatever the engine can do, Lexus is also promising that ''superior body control, cornering grip and straight-line stability'' will be the hallmarks of the new IS.
The new IS will also feature a lot of safety features, from 10 standard airbags (including a double knee package) to some interesting modern technology.

That would a radar-controlled Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS) to get the occupants into the best possible environment for a crash, Adaptive Cruise Control to make it easier to stop the IS from running into the vehicle ahead, and Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting System to provide the driver with the most favorable illumination at all times.
We will surely get more information about the Lexus IS before it goes on sale here later this year, so stay tuned.
