The audio systems are designed to provide outstanding performance byimproving imaging and timbral balance for all seating positions and roadconditions. Every system will contain customized multi-channel equalizationand processing to suit the chosen speaker placement and cabin acoustics of theparticular Lincoln vehicle.
"Lincoln's unique relationship with THX will help us deliver superiorsound quality with total flexibility to optimize speakers, amplifiers andelectronics to the listening environment of individual vehicles," said LincolnMercury Product Development Director Al Kammerer. "Our goal is for musicconnoisseurs to be able to enjoy the best sound quality possible in a luxuryvehicle."
THX has long offered its consulting services and certification to majortheatres and makers of home systems, but the relationship with Lincoln is thecompany's first effort in the automotive industry. The new "THX Ultra PremiumCar Audio" program defines the performance benchmarks necessary to achievestate-of-the-art sound quality in an automobile. THX certification considersthe entire sound system including the electronics, loudspeakers and cabinacoustics.
The program starts at the vehicle concept phase where Lincoln and THX worktogether to develop the system. Prior to production, the sound system foreach Lincoln model undergoes a stringent evaluation by THX to complete thecertification process.
