Honda Canada made some changes to its lineup recently, upgrading the Acura 3.5RL sedan and adding a more luxurious model to the popular Accord sedan offering.

According to Richard Jacobs of Honda Canada, the new Accord EX Leather Sedan will include many standard features previously unavailable on 2001 4-cylinder Accord sedans.

In addition to the Accord EX Sedan's equipment, Jacobs explains, the EX Leather Sedan gains a leather-trimmed interior and heated front seats with driver's seat eight-way power adjustment.

For better access to the 6-disc CD, the new model also features standard steering wheel mounted audio controls. "Extra luxury touches on the Accord EX Leather Sedan include leather door inserts, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wood print trim on the doors and centre console," Jacobs says.

These new features build on the standard equipment found on the Accord EX Sedan, including a power moonroof, time delay fading interior lighting, power windows and locks, keyless remote entry, a security system, cruise control, and air conditioning with micron air filtration system.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the Accord EX Leather Sedan is $27,000 with the 5-speed manual shifter, and $28,000 with the 4-speed automatic.

Acura's 3.5RL for 2002 has been given what Jacobs calls significant improvements in power, handling, and noise, vibration and harshness isolation, along with cosmetic and other changes.

The big news for most people would be the revised 3.5-litre V6, which now generates 225 horsepower, up from the previous model's 210 horsepower.
