The LMP1 prototypes will no longer be admitted in Le Mans Series championship, starting in 2012.

The LMP2 prototypes will lead the Le Mans Series field next season, following the launch of the FIA endurance world championship next season.

Like this year, both championship will run their own calendar, with no similar races.

The GT cars will still be divided in two categories (GTE Pro and GTE Am) and the Formula Le Mans will still be part of the entries.

The other change will be the arrival of the GTC category, which will include the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Ferrari Challenge.

Only three teams are competing in the LMS’ LMP1 category this year: Pescarolo, Rebellion and Quifel ASM.
