Lord Drayson and the Lola Group presented on Wednesday their new all-electric B12/69EV in an effort to become the supplier to the FIA new Formula E series for electric vehicles.
The new Lola-Drayson partnership produced this LMP1-based car that is just a showcase for the electric technology beneath the surface.
Lord Drayson told Autosport magazine that the car would feature a central cockpit with a real emphasis on reducing drag because of the importance of low drag with active aerodynamic surfaces to generate sufficient downforce.
The deadline for submissions to the FIA is January 17, with a decision made at the World Motorsport Council meeting on March 9, 2012.
Should Lola-Drayson clinch the deal, the all-new car is expected to hit the track for testing in the final months of 2012, with the FIA Formula E starting in 2013, although an official calendar of eight street races is yet to be finalized.
