Lotus wants to increase its sales by 8,000 units by 2015, and the automaker is bringing out the big guns to do so, announcing the recruitment of Karl-Heinz Kalbfell and Guillaume Chabin, formerly of BMW and Ferrari.

Karl-Heinz Kalbfell will be assisting Lotus president Dany Bahar and offering operational support at the company’s headquarters, while Guillaume Chabin has been named Director of Sales.

“It’s not often that you get to work with such an iconic automotive brand at such an exciting stage of its development, and I really feel that now is the perfect time for me to contribute toward the future of Lotus,” said an enthusiastic Kalbfell.

Confident and just as enthused, Chabin commented: “Joining Lotus was an easy decision for me to make, having been previously involved in the re-birth of an iconic British brand when I was working at Bentley”.

Both men are bringing an impressive amount of experience with them. Kalbfell worked in the engineering and marketing departments at BMW, where his greatest achievements were the M Series sedan and his implication in the project to integrate the BMW V12 into the McLaren F1. Apart from his time at Bentley, Chabin also worked for Ferrari, where he was director of the North Europe division.
