Former French ski champion Luc Alphand has been seriously injured in an accident during a motorcycle race held this past weekend in France.
The winner of the World Ski Cup in 1997 has undergone spinal surgery to consolidate the broken vertebrae and to install pieces of metal in his neck.
The accident happened on Sunday during the Rand'Auvergne all-terrain motorcycle race.
Alphand won the Dakar Rally in 2006 and heads Luc Alphand Aventures, the teams that enters Corvettes C6Rs in the Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
