Of all the movies involving cars, Mad Max is still considered a classic after all these years. Many fondly remember the aggressive 1979 Ford Falcon XB GT351 that perfectly complimented Mel Gibson’s character, Max Rockatansky.
If you remember those days wistfully, you’ll no doubt be delighted to hear that Ford and Top Gear Australia magazine have joined forces to create two concept cars reviving the Falcon, giving it a modern twist without forgetting its origins.
Nima Nourian’s take is particularly contemporary, replacing the machine guns by an industrial-strength taser that will zap cars out of the way.
Simon Brook is responsible for the second concept, using elements from the Falcon currently available in Australia alongside components from the original model. A bit like Nourian, he chose to swap the armour for wheels with inner spokes that pop out to rip apart anything in its way.
Readers of the magazine can now vote on their favourite design. The winning model will be turned into a scale model and publicly presented some time in 2011.
