The base engine is a DOHC 2,0 litre 4 banger and is available only with the 5 speed manual transmission. Obviously, most buyers will turn to the 24 valve DOHC V6 engine with a 200 horse cavalry. That engine is mated exclusively to the 4-speed automatic.

A SPORTY LOOK AND PLEASANT SILHOUETTE

Not quite as aggressively style as the Xterra, the Tribute nevertheless looks like a true sport ute with its sufficiently elevated roof, lower body moldings and prominent fender contours. Quite large tires filling the wheel wells and sport rims add to the picture. I have not test driven the vehicle yet, but at first glance the interior appeared as roomy with more front and rear legroom than several competitors.

I also noticed the fine design of the bucket seats. Moreover its sport sedan like dashboard includes a full array of instruments with easy to reach controls. With the rear window open and the tailgate closed, one can slip in a 4X8? plywood sheet after previously folding the 60/40 rear bench. The tailgate features a lower section platform and window in its upper part. It opens on to a flat floored and well-dimensioned cargo area.

The Tribute also offers equipment normally found in upper status utes, such as leather seats, power six position adjustable seats, standard air conditioner (ES version), high quality audio system with six disc CD changer, leather wrapped steering wheel and storage bins at windshield level.
