"Essentially, these cars are like art that you can drive," Lobzun said. "They embody the spirit and style of their era."

Now owned by James Covert of Florida, the color on this model, according to RM, matches the color of a favorite dress of Mrs. Preston Tucker who told her husband that it would look great on a car. RM Auctions is to automotive auctions what Sotheby's is to everything else, performing a little more than a dozen car and estate auctions a year, with sales around $100 million in 2003.
There are various awards for the "rolling sculptures of art" that participate in the concours, including: "The Founder's Trophy-Best of Show," which is for the most outstanding vehicle shown; the "Most Elegant Award;" the "Most Outstanding Interior;" to the "People's Choice Award."
"It really gets harder and harder each year to choose one of these cars to win an award," said artist Buck Mook, one of the judges. "To be in this show, each one of these cars is outstanding, and the standards are lifted year after year. One of the awards is the car that best expresses the spirit of the show while another is on the best finish. I mean, judging for this event is almost an impossible feat."
