Mercedes-Benz continues with its celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of its AMG division, the latest taking place during the 24 Hours of Nürburgring event in Germany. We include below a video filmed during the event, along with a manifesto that illustrates the passion for performance animating the company, as well as a superb overview of the cars that have marked its history, both on the road and on the track.
Founded in 1967, AMG began its association with Mercedes-Benz in 1990 and has been part of automotive giant Daimler AG since 2005. Last year its worldwide sales increased by 40% over the previous year and surpassed the 100,000 mark. The brand is currently in the midst of the largest blitz of new vehicles in its long history, and the general expectation is that 2017 will turn out to be another record year.
At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this past January, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT C Coupe, along with a special “Edition 50”, of which only 50 units were produced for the United States.
