The squared-off body of the G500 cannot deny its military origins. To open the door requires a certain effort. And closing any door means almost slamming it because the latches are so robust! It felt like opening and closing one of those market store refrigerator doors. M-B looked at many details including the company's logo that illuminate on the door sill when opening the front doors. Front space is good for two passengers with hard but supportive seats. The dashboard is pretty straight but fully functional. Rear seating can hold three passengers confortably and it is so straight forward in its design that the rearview is excellent. Ample luggage space, since the spare tire is outside, complement the ergonomy. My only real complaint with the straight windows are the reflexions they generate mostly at night.

There is a lot to be said about the interior of the M-B G500. It contains a good GPS with a displayed map, a good stereo system but a lousy cupholder system, there is only one fixed cupholder in the console. Another cupholder made with a net can be pulled up on the passenger's side and, would you believe it, there is yet another cupholder you have to snap on!

Driving the G500 can be a surprise, it's a real truck! Its suspension is surely not smooth and its steering box cannot be as precise as a rack and pinion system. Actually, the steering wheel is a little hard to turn. The G500 is shod with Geolandar tires that are quiet but not perfect for serious off-roading. I did a very short trail but it was not serious enough to really try out the all-wheel drive system and its capabilities. But the G500 was doing fine on snow and ice.
